Hello! My name is Elena and I’m a junior at С²ÝÓ°Ôº from Honduras. I’m a psychology major and a music minor, and I am active in groups on campus such as CCM and Psi Chi. I also love chocolate, books, the color blue, playing the piano, and watching musicals. Working at Center for Global Learning and Engagement is really fun because there’s always a different activity going on, and it’s a great way to help students from all over the world feel like С²ÝÓ°Ôº is a home away from home. I started working here this year because I love the diversity on our campus, and I want to help others feel welcome in this family!

A Trip To Africa /global/2015/09/04/a-trip-to-africa/ /global/2015/09/04/a-trip-to-africa/#respond Fri, 04 Sep 2015 15:50:25 +0000 /global/?p=3963 During summer 2015, Center for Global Learning and Engagement partnered with the Faulkner County Library to put on a free culture and education program for children.  This 3 month program focused on a different country in Africa each month.  International students at С²ÝÓ°Ôº from the African Student Association and the С²ÝÓ°Ôº Ivoirian Association shared culture, language, music, dance, traditional games, and so much more with children in Conway.  In May, the program centered around the Democratic Republic of Congo.  Students from DRC shared information about nature, animals, and sang their national anthem for the children.  In June, the program focused on the Ivory Coast.  Students from Ivory Coast played traditional games that children play in Ivory Coast.  They made a common snack and drink of Ivory Coast to share with the children.  In July, students from Niger talked about daily life and taught the children a song in French.  The program was a huge success and we hope to partner with the Faulkner County Library again in the future.
