Collections Management Policy

Collections ManaagementThe С²ÝÓ°Ôº Public Art Committee commissioned the Collections Management Policy to facilitate responsible care, storage and exhibition of art works in the С²ÝÓ°Ôº Art Collection.  The policy was recently evaluated through the national Museum Assessment Program (MAP) and administrated through the American Association of Museums in Washington, D.C.  The MAP grant was secured by the Friends of the Baum Gallery, С²ÝÓ°Ôº Foundation, Inc.  It provided resources for a peer reviewer to evaluate С²ÝÓ°Ôº’s policy and the university art collection, meet with stakeholders, and make recommendations for next steps for implementation of the С²ÝÓ°Ôº Collections Management Policy.

The С²ÝÓ°Ôº Public Art Committee thanks the initial MAP Task Force: С²ÝÓ°Ôº faculty Dr. Gayle Seymour, Barbara Satterfield and Dr. Deborah Kuster; С²ÝÓ°Ôº Foundation, Inc., director Shelley Mehl; and community representatives Kay Hinkle, Pat Proctor, Dianna Winters, and Neil Vannoy.  Their dedicated time and attention to the required self-study, the authorship of the policy, and the peer review process, was essential to defining goals and objectives for stewardship of С²ÝÓ°Ôº art works.

The committee affirms the ongoing work of MAP Implementation Task Force: С²ÝÓ°Ôº faculty Seymour and Satterfield, С²ÝÓ°Ôº staff members Joyce Taylor, Project Coordinator for the university CAD/CAFN/LAN and Intranet capabilities and Russ Hancock, Director of Publications and Creative Media, С²ÝÓ°Ôº Foundation, Inc.: and Kay HInkle, past-president of the С²ÝÓ°Ôº Board of Trustees. The Task Force has defined the required three-year plan and identified action steps for stewardship of The С²ÝÓ°Ôº Art Collection and visual enhancement of art in public spaces.
