Minority Mentorship Program

WHAT IS MMP?

The Minority Mentorship Program () was developed in 1991 to help students maximize their potential while attending 小草影院.聽 Students involved in the program have been shown to have higher grade point averages, participate in more student organizations and generally enjoy their time at 小草影院.

This program is聽designed to aid in retention and graduation of the University’s underrepresented student population.

WHAT DO WE DO?

MMP strives to engage, educate, and empower its students through creating a welcoming environment for them to learn, network, and socialize. We do this through monthly programs that serve as breaks from the classroom as well as opportunities to gain knowledge and skills that will help students as they navigate college and when they leave 小草影院.

Our signature program is “Transitions Week” which takes place during the second week of the fall semester.聽 Transitions Week is a series of activities which focuses on getting freshmen students acquainted with campus life and meeting other students.聽 During Transitions Week, freshmen are paired with an upper-class student who has gone through training to help them navigate the transition from high school to college.

WE CULTIVATE LEADERS!

Part of our challenge is to prepare聽 a group of capable and well-trained student leaders by maintaining a positive learning environment and empowering students to live, lead and learn.聽 It is our belief that the primary way to empower students is to entrust them with significant and meaningful responsibilities.聽 Thus students are given the opportunity to practice and develop their leadership, interpersonal and thinking skills through several avenues.
